Walking through the African bush puts everything in perspective: it made me realize that man is just a tiny element in the animal kingdom. And coming to understand how flora and fauna coexist in their struggle for survival shines an interesting light on how we ourselves can improve our interaction with each other. I will never forget the smell of wild sage that spread as we brushed the leafs while walking through them, fully aware of an imminent encounter with anyone of the big five. Resulting in that absolutely mindblowing and very humbling moment when you are only a couple of meters away from a baby elephant inquisitively looking at those strange two-legged beings. After checking us out it calmy rejoined its mother who had been patiently waiting for her calf. A memory that is engraved in my heart.
